Recession Proof Yourself for Today's Economy

Okay, everyone gets it. We're in whatever you want to call it - recession, slow down, downturn, etc. And we are all looking for ways to keep moving until things get better. The unemployment picture is dismal, at best, but for those willing to work there are ways to make ends meet. We must find ways to recession proof our efforts.

During a downturn, people's behavior changes. Many people draw back, go into hibernation mode and plan to just wait it out. But those who put forth an extra effort during these times will find themselves so much stronger when the market returns.

With job insecurity and pressure on everyone's budget, people tend to be a lot more selective in what they purchase and where they spend their money. People look to make their money go further and search for bargins. It's a fact that during hard times, restaurants and entertainment venues suffer first. Maybe this is not the time to think about starting up a new eatery!

But as a business owner or entrepreneur, you must realize that your competitors may be thinking the same way. "Maybe I shouldn't start a business right now, maybe I should delay that business plan". So if you are the self starter I think you are, now may be the time to get a jump on the competition.

You may know someone who has had their credit line reduced or even eliminated during this economic climate. Maybe even you! This is adding pressure on a market already struggling to keep businesses afloat.

Realizing all of this, do you know the big difference in this recession and others before it - the INTERNET.

Utilizing the internet can be your life raft in a sea of uncertainty, an effective way to outsmart and outperform your competitors. Whether you are a newbie to the World Wide Web or a savvy online marketer, this is your chance. Why?

Last year saw internet searches increase by 21% and I can tell you that will most likely double by the end of this year. Using the internet is smart, it's easy, it's stay at home and shop in your pj's, it has no transportation cost as well as many other advantages. Online spending has reached a staggering $214 Billion, up 7% over last year.

So do you think this might be a place you could earn some money? Are you ready for a change? Here's what to do next....
  • evaluate how this economy is treating you now;
  • look critically at your internet skill set;
  • determine if you can be self motivated to work at home and still get the job done
  • resolve to apply the skills you have, learn the ones you need and use the internet to do it!
This may be the best recession you ever lived through.
